Craniosacral Therapy

Being with Babies – I.

This course is offered by Emily Martin and Courageous Heart Therapies.  The School of Inner Health is honored and excited to host Emily Martin as Guest Instructor teaching a course she has developed from her years of education and experience with babies, families and craniosacral therapy.

About the Course –

Craniosacral Therapy for babies and children is becoming more well-known, in demand, and recommended by mainstream medical providers. Currently, the need is outpacing the number of experienced, knowledgeable practitioners. Being with Babies is an advanced course for Craniosacral Therapy professionals to gain the hands-on skills and knowledge needed to immediately add this level of support to their professional practice.

Utilizing a combination of embodied learning experiences, advanced anatomy study, and hands-on practice, we will explore the territories of conception, gestation, birth, and attachment. Each day will provide new opportunities to settle deeper into our own personal story in the interest of rediscovering the health within our own journeys; this perspective allows practitioners to approach the stories of their clients with more clarity, differentiation, and effectiveness.

Come Explore –

  • Infant anatomy
  • The Role of Cranial Nerves in Bonding & Feeding
  • Stages of Labor & Birth
  • Force Vectors from Birth
  • Plagiocephaly & Torticollis
  • Echoes of Perinatal Experiences & How to Treat Them

Each day of this course, students will explore the dynamics of perinatal experiences through embodied meditation and movements. Upon returning to clients, they will have a felt-sense recognition of what implantation imprints, birth trauma, and attachment interruptions feel like and how they are likely to present in family dynamics.

Navigating the family field can be nuanced and multilayered. During this course, students will learn how to approach this dynamic with the professionalism and care necessary to bring down-regulation, greater coherence, and renewed opportunities for bonding and repair within families.

Building Skills-

  • Understanding common birth and tension patterns
  • Learn how to treat an unsettled baby
  • Communicate and work within a care team of birth and bodywork professionals
  • Understanding how tongue and lip ties interface with craniosacral therapy
  • Appreciate the specific anatomy of infants and how to treat it
  • Working within mom/baby dyads and multi-layered family dynamics
  • Review birth patterns and the force vectors from birth rotation
  • Repairing interrupted birth and attachment sequences

Our birth processes are imprinted in our approaches to the world, from our posture to the way we seek connection. In this course, we will build the foundation skills to identify and meet these imprints in order to offer the resolution or support necessary. Being skilled in our communication with care providers and family members in this context is an advanced skill all Craniosacral Therapists can benefit from.

When new families can be met with experience, intelligence, and gentleness, they have the opportunity to build a level of attunement and communication that will have far-reaching effects for their relationships and their children.

Please join us for this deep-dive into formative experiences we all share. Bringing light, healing, and understanding to these places can change our culture from the inside out with positive ripples into future generations and the health of our human collective.
