I want to tell you about Poquito, our black healing kitty. (Spanish = “little one”)

When he is not lying on people legs; soothing, purring, nealing, he loves to romp up the hillside behind the
School of Inner Health and ingratiate his lovable self with the neighbors. He’s a strong . . . 7 year old now . . . an
outdoors kitty.

About a month ago, on a Sunday eve, when we were just cleaning up after our final Lymphatic class, we heard
a weak “meew” at the door and several of us ran to open it. It was a rainy night and Poquito was sitting there,
soaking wet and holding a dangling paw up. We held him. Several of us worked on him and could feel something
very wrong with the bone, along with a strange lumpy round thing. The next day, his main mommy, Lorelei, took
him to the vet and came home to report that he had been SHOT!

Many of you wonderful people donated to his surgery and I started this letter several days ago to THANK YOU
and let you know than $500 was donated, the surgery was done, he was recovering well and chasing moths again.

Then . . . last Thursday, I came to work and heard, again, a weak “meew”. On seeing me, Poquito came
running/wobbling from behind a telephone pole….ON THREE LEGS!

Again, I held him, did some Cranial work on him…and, the next day, Lorelei took him to the vet, who
confirmed that he had been SHOT AGAIN! This time, it was his back leg and hip. Again xrays showed a shattered
bone and the same round pellet lodged there.

      We were given three options:
                     1. Put him to sleep
                     2. Amputation at the hip
                     3. Put in metal pieces where the bone had been.

None of them good options and all quite expensive.

Our hearts were broken; mine, Lorelei’s and also Poquito’s. Who could do this to our beloved pussy??

Along with the grief, has been the anger to process. I know it does no good to rage at the perpetrator as this
only piles more anger on the anger/fear they must hold to do this kind of thing. Still this is a natural part of grief
and trauma so we have compassion for ourselves as we go through this time.

I know, as you read this, that your own rage at what has happened could surface, so I invite to you to, please,
do your own processing around it . . . and, please, be gentle with yourself. Perhaps there is a way we can all take
this to a higher level of COMPASSION.

Poquito is not angry. He is accepting “what is” and only has some concern that we; Lorelei and I, will be OK.

After much research, we have chosen amputation. Check out YouTube: 3 legged cats, and you will see why.

The surgery is now done, we are all recovering and so many kind souls have donated to help us pay the
surgery bills. He is sleeping a lot (smart kitty-this is the best way to recover), and the vet is taking him off the
meds this week so he can be his feisty self. He won’t be going out at nite any more and the police are doing what
they can to investigate and find the pellet gun.

If you would like to help us again with the cost of this surgery (about $800), you can go to www.
loreleibeckstrom.com. Scroll down to “Poquito” and hit the “donate” button.

I will keep you posted as things progress. Thanks for your caring. Poquito, Manitou’s Healing Kitty, is still
laying on people’s legs to soothe them when he lets me know he wants to be lifted up and he has a new nickname:

                                                                       “FUZZY TRIPOD”.
